Resumo

The sexual morph of Stachybotrys frondicola (K.D. Hyde, Goh, Joanne E. Taylor & J. Fröhl.) Yong Wang bis, K.D. Hyde, McKenzie, Y.L. Jiang & D.W. Li. is recorded here for the first time in Brazil. It colonizes the palm Bactris acanthocarpa Mart. and Elaeis guineensis Jacq., representing new botanical substrates for this fungus. The collections were carried out in fragments of Atlantic Forest in the States of Bahia, EMARC-Uruçuca in Pernambuco, and the Saltinho Biological Reserve, Tamandaré. Ascomycetes in Arecaceae are poorly studied regarding their taxonomy. More complete taxonomic research on the sexual morph of Stachybotrys are scarce. The first record of the occurrence of the sexual morph of S. frondicola in Brazil expands the geographic distribution data.
